"We connect the chain, from sawmill to end processor.
Eric Cousin (left) and Wilco van Berlo - WooX BVHow did WooX BV come about?
Eric Cousin has been working in the national and international timber trade for over 25 years. His specialization is the woodworking industry. When Eric started working with robinia in 2001, he met Wilco van Berlo - owner of RobiniaWood. Wilco has over 20 years of experience in Robinia; he specializes in this European hardwood species and has a wide range in stock, with his own sawmill/production company in Hungary. The collaboration quickly developed, and that’s why Eric and Wilco decided to join forces.
How does WooX BV make a difference?
Eric:“We do everything we can to be a reliable, stock-holding and proactive partner. We want to build a long-term collaboration with the customer through a personal approach. Our large stock, short supply chain and experience helps us to serve the international market
What is the future outlook?
Wilco:“We know what is happening in the woodworking industry, also on the sawmill side. We are flexible and with our production entirely in our own hands, we are very well able to think along with the customer. We know the market and fill in as professionals where necessary. WooX BV stands for ‘Connecting Wood’, we do what a dowel does; connect. We connect the chain from sawmill to end processor.”
Why was the choice made for acacia/robinia dowels?
From our contacts with the woodworking industry, it became clear that there was a great need for acacia/robinia dowels. Eric: "We already had beech dowels made, and that’s when the idea arose to start producing acacia/robinia dowels our selfs. We knew the market and were aware that there was demand for it." Wilco adds: "The supply line and production had already been set up, and from that, WooX BV emerged. We started production in 2017, and we also arranged the FSC certification. Since January 2018, we have been fully certified and WooX BV has been officially established."
